What is a palette generator?
A fast way to find colors that work together
A palette generator creates a set of 5โ10 colors designed to look good together. Instead of picking colors one by one and hoping they match, you get a ready harmony in one click, like having a professional color consultant built into your browser.
Our tool offers two proven approaches: Random builds fresh harmonies from color theory, while Image mode extracts the colors that truly dominate your photo by counting pixels. Both run 100% in your browser, no upload, no signup.
Use the palette for branding, websites, social posts, illustrations, or slides, copy as HEX, RGB, HSL or CSS variables, or download as TXT, SVG or PNG.
How to use
Two ways to create: random & image
๐ฒ Random mode (default)
Pick a harmony
Choose Random, Analogous, Complementary, Triadic, Tetradic, Mono or Shades. Each uses color-theory hue rules.
Generate & lock
Hit Generate or press Space. Lock colors you love, unlocked slots regenerate while locked stay fixed.
Refine & export
Drag to reorder, click gear to adjust H/S/L, remove or add up to 10. Copy as HEX/RGB/HSL/CSS or download TXT, SVG, PNG.
๐ผ๏ธ Image mode
Upload an image
Click the camera icon, drag & drop, paste, or load via URL. Image stays in your browser.
Auto-extract palette
We sample ~12k pixels, quantize, sort by area (dominance) and merge near colors (distance 0.08).
Tweak & use
Palette lands above the photo preview. Prune swatches, drag to reorder, copy in your chosen format, or export the set.
Harmony guide
Pick the rule that fits your mood, we handle the math.
